Golf Swing Takeaway
The takeaway is the first trigger to a proper golf swing. Once you have taken your address, are relaxed, and your posture is correct, you are now in a good position to take the club back. The first move away from the ball is with your shoulders, arms and club, moving away smoothly from the ball as one unit. Everything moves together to increase your chances of starting the swing on the correct plane. 

The coiling of you upper body naturally pulls the left knee towards the ball, thus allowing your hips to turn along with the rest of your body.Try to feel as though you’re coiling around your right leg. Your weight should never go outside your right side. Your back swing should feel compact but not tense, while your right elbow remains close to your side. At the top of your swing your arms should be above your right shoulder, allowing the right elbow to be turned down to the ground, forming a triangle with your left arm. Your weight (for the driver) is slightly on your right side, somewhere over the middle of your right foot (if right-handed), feeling that coiling action. There is really no up and down move in the golf swing; it’s built more around turning your trunk in a balanced coiling motion. Your weight should feel like your knees are over the balls of your feet and that you are centered. Balance is such a key aspect in any part of the golf swing, especially on the takeaway.
